Mini Goes to Santa Claus

Santa ClausThe address of the North Pole, a snowflake stamp, and a frantic race to the wreath-wrapped mailbox will not be necessary to send your Christmas Wish List to Santa Claus this holiday season.

MINI will be taking care of your delivery this year.

A fleet of three MINIs wished the BMW Group Headquarters in Munich Germany a festive farewell on Saturday, November 24th.

The destination?

Rovaniemi Finland, located right outside of the Arctic Circle.

With the carrying capacity of the MINI Clubman, the off-road capabilities of the MINI Countryman, and the go-kart-like MINI Hatchback, MINI will collect the wish lists of both children and adults from all around the world.

Participating countries include Belgium, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, the United Kingdom, and the United States of America.

In addition to the delivery, MINI could potentially set yet another Official Guinness World Record of “Longest Wish List to Santa Claus” with the nearly 1900-mile-trek.

The new MINI Paceman, the 1967 Monte Carlo Rally Winner, Rauno Aaltonen, and, hopefully, Santa Claus himself, will be there to welcome the crew to its final destination.

And, maybe, just maybe, some of those wished-for MINIs will be parked under the tree on Christmas morning.

How many people can fit into a Mini Cooper?

As of now, the Guinness world record says that 27 people can fit into a Mini Cooper.

Before that, it was 26.

This year, Mini is attempting to break its own Guinness world record by fitting 28 people into a Mini Cooper.

The previous records were set utilizing 26 members of a New York dance company and, later, 27 members of a gym, fulfilling the ideal criteria of flexible and non-claustrophobic participants.

This time around, it is no different, as 28 gym members set out to pack themselves into a Mini Cooper.

Immediately following the attempt, 22 of the 28 participants will also try to fit into a classic Mini Cooper.

Guinness requires all participants to be at least five feet tall and 18 years of age. In addition, all doors and windows must remain closed for five seconds. Absolutely nothing inside of the vehicle may be modified.

The action will take place this Thursday at Potters Field Park in London.

Countryman Gets Some Updates for the New Model Year

The MINI Cooper Countryman is the largest MINI available (with 5 doors!). Despite being a MINI, it has a surprisingly roomy interior and can fit four adults comfortably. As one of the most practical MINIs, the Countryman will be getting some updates.

The modifications on the Countryman will roll out this month.  The ALL4 all-wheel-drive option on Countryman should be appealing for those living in areas with rough winter weather, like here in Pittsburgh. The all-wheel drive is powered by a 181-horsepower turbocharged 4-cylinder.

The Countryman still gets superb fuel economy with the base manual transmission getting 27 mpg city 35 mpg highway.

The interior gets an update with new styling and colors by adding Carbon Black across the instrument panel and air vents. This will be standard on all trims. Additionally, with the Chrome Line Interior option, the Carbon Black can be highlighted with chrome. There are also newly designed door inserts making the Countryman even more comfortable and practical.

The Countryman will also come standard with a three-seat rear bench, for the first time. This can be swapped for two individual rear seats at no cost.

Contact your local MINI dealer, MINI of Pittsburgh, to see when the updated Countryman will be in stock. Visit us online anytime at www.miniofpittsburgh.com.
